Trash Information

Trash service for Southern Oaks is provided by Waste Management. This includes trash, recycling and yard waste. All three are collected every Thursday. Collection may be delayed on weeks with holidays and/or weather events.

 

Some frequently asked questions below:

 

Pickup generally occurs around these times every Thursday:

• Yard waste: around 7:30 a.m.
• Trash: mid-morning
• Recycling: early-mid-afternoon

• Each resident is allowed one bulky item pickup, consisting of two items, per year. Additional, chargeable, pickups may be scheduled with WM. To schedule a pickup please call WM at: (800) 964-8988 or reach out to the SOHA Manager

• Yard waste can be collected year-round. It is scheduled for weekly pickup EXCEPT for the period between the second week of January until March. During this 7-week period yard waste is collected on an on-call basis from individual residents needing pickup. Residents can call Waste Management's toll-free number at: (800) 964-8999

• All yard waste pickup, either scheduled or on-call, carry a 10-bag allowance.

Does all trash have to fit in the trash can? Will WM accept extra bags or boxes that don't fit in the trash can?

• The trash service is cart contents only. The bagged trash has to be contained and the lid closed. Residents can place additional bags of household trash next to the full WM cart if necessary. Any bags placed beside the full trash cart must have a WM overage sticker affixed to the bag and visible from the road. Here is a current list of locations where stickers can be purchased.
